Sessions are designed to support participants to build functional movement, coordination, emotional regulation, confidence and community participation in a way that feels motivating and meaningful

Our Occupational Therapy programs use immersive kart-based activities as a therapeutic tool to support participants in developing functional skills, emotional regulation, attention, and executive functioning in a controlled, real-world environment.

  • Improving motor planning and coordination

  • Building confidence and independence

  • Developing emotional regulation and focus

  • Increasing community access and participation

  • Supporting functional skills and reaction time

Step 1: Initial Enquiry & Intake

Participants, families, or support coordinators complete a brief intake form outlining:

  • NDIS plan type (self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed)

  • Current goals and support needs

  • Relevant diagnoses or functional challenges

  • Previous therapy supports

  • Any access or safety considerations

This allows us to determine suitability and ensure the program aligns with NDIS goals.

Step 2: NDIS Plan & Goals Review

A qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist reviews the participant’s NDIS plan to ensure:

  • Therapy goals align with Capacity Building supports

  • The program is appropriate for the participant’s functional needs

  • The support can be reasonably and necessary linked to stated goals

Where required, we liaise with Support Coordinators or Plan Managers to confirm funding categories.

Step 3: Clinical Assessment (In-Person)

Participants attend an initial in-person West Footscray / Phone / Home Visit assessment session with a qualified clinician. This may include:

  • Functional movement screening

  • Balance and coordination assessment

  • Reaction time and motor planning tasks

  • Sensory regulation and emotional regulation screening

  • Observation of attention, confidence and engagement in structured activities

This session allows us to determine clinical suitability and baseline function.

Step 4: Safety & Suitability Screening

Before commencing the program, we complete a safety screening to ensure:

  • The participant can safely engage in kart-based activities

  • Any medical considerations are identified

  • Reasonable adjustments or supports can be put in place

  • The participant’s sensory, cognitive and physical needs can be accommodated

Where required, modifications or alternative supports may be recommended.

Step 5: Individualised Therapy Plan

Based on assessment outcomes, the clinician develops a tailored therapy plan aligned to the participant’s NDIS goals. This includes:

  • Targeted therapy outcomes

  • Recommended session frequency and duration

  • Therapeutic focus areas (e.g. coordination, regulation, confidence)

  • Progress markers and review timeframes

Step 6: Program Commencement

Participants commence therapy sessions delivered by a qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist in a structured, goal-oriented format. Each session includes:

  • Therapeutic objectives

  • Graded challenges

  • Skill development

  • Progress tracking
